Team Vorarlberg with perfect season ending at the CRO Race – Alexis Guerin overall winner of the mountain classification and eleventh place in the individual classification!

The 24th season ended today with the last stage at the world-class CRO Race UCI 2.1 in Croatia. And it did so in the manner of quite a few 2022 stage and one-day races. After a great team performance in the last six stages, Alexis Guerin wins the overall mountain classification in impressive fashion ahead of Oscar Only (GBR/Team DSM) and this year’s Tour winner Jonas Vingegaard (DEN/Jumbo-Visma).

In the overall classification, Guerin finishes eleventh as by far the best rider from a Continental team.

Matej Mohoric snatches the overall victory from Tour winner Vingegaard on the finish line!

Today’s stage winner in the mass sprint from Sveta to Zagreb over 158 kilometers was the Italian Elia Viviani (Ineos-Grenadiers) ahead of the Slovenian Matej Mohoric (Bahrain). On the final lap, however, the tireless Alexis Guerin attacked again, but was put back. Mohoric got the necessary bonus seconds with the second stage place, and wins the tour with the minimum lead of one second over Jonas Vingegaard!

Team Vorarlberg in the middle of the top teams in the world – ninth place in the team classification!

Since last Tuesday, the Vorarlberg team has been super-present every day on Eurosport 1. There was a rider in every top group. In conclusion, the TV commentators attested Team Vorarlberg a great performance today. This is also reflected in the team classification. Stari, Amann and Co. finish ninth overall among 20 teams, ahead of World Teams Trek-Segafredo and Israel-Premiertech.

“To stand together with the current Tour de France winner at an award ceremony is really strong, and for a team that is severely outgunned in terms of budget, it’s a decent proof of quality after all. The guys prepared this very well and executed their tasks perfectly. Even the biggest teams in the world recognized this and congratulated them.” Summary Werner Salmen – Sports Director
