Mission

DRAG has been actively campaigning to increase the number of cyclists in Bulgaria and raise awareness about issues that affect cyclists since its inception in 2000.

Both we and Bulgarian cycling have come a long way since we organised the first annual children’s event in Sofia’s South Park on September 22nd 2002, European Mobility Week, and the accompanying rally of bike fans around the centre of Sofia. We also support and participate in almost every other bike-related initiative, provided its organisers are socially responsible and their aims transparent. We aim to improve conditions for cyclists in Bulgaria and to increase the number of people using bikes for leisure or transportation not only because this gives us the chance to sell more bikes but because we know that cycling brings untold benefits not only in terms of reducing the individual’s carbon footprint but also in terms of the health and happiness benefits.

To name but a few of the bike-related initiatives we have organised or supported in recent years: Factor Foundation’s 30,000 km ride around the Mediterranean to raise awareness about ecological issues in the Med building the Skill bike park in Bansko for use by local children co-organising and sponsoring the annual 100 km Tour of Vitosha, the largest amateur bike race in the country sponsoring the Bulgarian National Television campaign to make pedestrian crossings more visible and to teach children road awareness.

We also encourage our own employees to lead a socially responsible lifestyle, rewarding those who travel to work by bike, for example, or organising team building exercises to plant trees on Vitosha mountain.
