Plovdiv hosted the Balkan track cycling championships for the first time. The competition was held in the Sports Hall “Kolodrom”. The competition is included in the calendar of the Balkan and Bulgarian Cycling Union. Elite cyclists from 9 countries, including Greece, Romania, Ukraine, Slovenia, Slovakia and the Czech Republic were invited.
Nikolay Genov won the gold medal at the Balkan track cycling championships for men in Plovdiv with Drag bicycle, recording the best national achievements of 4000 meters, just after 32 years. The record was formerly owned by Stancho Stanchev. The silver medal was won by another Bulgarian – Radoslav Konstantinov, and the bronze was won by Lynkardos Nikolaos from Greece. Miroslav Minchev was also awarded with gold medal.
The Tusnad Drag Cycling team also joined the event. Laszlo Peter finished third and Ruben Ramos took first place in the Elite category.
