The resumption of one of the oldest cycling competitions in the world became possible after the collapse and of the former cycling union and the formation of a new Bulgarian Cycling Federation. Only the Tour de France, the Giro d’Italia and the Tour of Belgium are older than the tour of Bulgaria, which was held for the first time in 1924.
